Product Overview
The Sugia OmniScope A4 occupies the large-diameter, maximum-image-quality segment of the A-Series. With an 8.4 mm probe diameter — the largest in the Sugia lineup — the A4 accommodates a 1/3-inch 2.0-megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor and an illumination system delivering a measured 5000 lux at 100 mm working distance. This combination enables detailed visual documentation of large internal volumes where ambient light contamination is not a concern and maximum pixel resolution is the overriding requirement.
The 8.4 mm diameter intentionally targets access ports of 10 mm and larger — steam-turbine casing inspection ports, pressure-vessel manway nozzle bores, large-bore process-pipe flanges, and marine diesel engine cylinder-liner inspection ports. In these applications, probe diameter is not the limiting factor; image quality and illumination reach are.
The A4’s 2.0-megapixel sensor captures still images at 1920 × 1080 (Full HD) and video at 1080p/60 fps with H.265 (HEVC) encoding for reduced file sizes while maintaining full spatial resolution. The high-frame-rate mode (720p/120 fps) enables slow-motion review of fast-moving mechanical components — valve-stem motion, actuator linkage travel, rotating shaft surface inspection — at 1/4 real-time playback speed without frame interpolation artifacts.
Key Engineering Features
- 2.0 Megapixel Full HD Sensor: 1/3-inch BSI CMOS with 2.0 µm pixel pitch; 1920 × 1080 still images; 1080p/60 fps video with H.265 encoding; high-speed 720p/120 fps mode for slow-motion mechanical review.
- 5000-Lumen Illumination System: Twenty-four high-CRI (Ra ≥ 90) white LEDs arranged in a compound parabolic concentrator (CPC) ring; 5000 lux measured at 100 mm working distance; uniform beam profile (±8% across 70% central field area).
- 7.5 m Insertion Tube Capability: The 8.4 mm probe’s larger tension-wire cross-sections enable 160° articulation at the full 7.5 m working length without the articulation-range degradation that affects smaller-diameter long probes.
- H.265 Video Encoding: Hardware HEVC encoder reduces 1080p/60 fps video file sizes by approximately 40% compared to H.264 at equivalent quality settings, extending effective recording time on a given storage volume.
- 120 fps High-Speed Mode: 720p capture at 120 fps; playback at 30 fps for 1/4-speed slow motion. Essential for documenting intermittent mechanical events (sticking valve stems, intermittent contact, transient debris movement) that occur faster than 30 fps capture can resolve.
